Coworking Members Etiquette: The Basic 10 Rules

Rule # 1

Exercise ‘common sense’, ‘common decency’, and ‘common respect’.
When in doubt of any of the following rules, ALWAYS refer back to Rule #1.

Rule # 2

Be noise conscious.

• Don’t carry-on a conversation as if you’re the only person in the area.
• If you must take a call longer than a few minutes, get a private area.
• No Meetings or Project Collaboration in the Desk Area. If you have something to discuss with coworkers, move to a meeting room or private space.

Just keep the noise to a minimum and realize others are working and may need silence.

Rule # 3

Respect personal space and boundaries.

• Be mindful of other people’s space. Keep your personal bubble.
• Don’t try to squeeze into an already tight work area.

Just provide everyone the personal space needed to be comfortable.

Rule # 4

Clean Up After Yourself.

• “Leave no trace” that you utilized the space. Leave the workspace as if nobody used it.
• Don’t assume that someone will clean the working area after you.
• Sanitize your workspace after each use.

Just clean-up after yourself and everything will be fine.

Rule # 5

Be Considerate of the Shared Areas.

• The kitchenette is not your personal kitchen.
• The printer/copy/scanner machine is not your personal resource.

Understand this is a coworking facility and everything is community based.

Rule # 6

Don’t Overuse Services or Amenities:

• Don’t use all the paper in the copy machine.
• Don’t drink all the coffee or eat all the complimentary ‘whatever’ (when provided).

Just be considerate of others and everything will be fine.

Rule # 7

Respect time and space allotments and reservations.

• Only use your allocated/reserved space.
• Use the conference room/office for the time you reserved.

Just stay within the space and time window you rented / reserved and everything will be fine.

Rule # 8

Stay Home if Unwell.

• If you feel sick, think you’re currently sick, think you might be getting sick, or just sorta / kinda feel “icky” PLEASE STAY HOME.

Rule # 9

If it is NOT yours, don’t use it, borrow it, move it, touch it, or steal it.
